The Shandrum Céilí Band takes their name from the Shandrum parish in North County Cork. The current band was formed in December 2014, and is in high demand across the country and abroad to provide music for dances, concerts and céilithe. The band and played their first engagement in Cois na hAbhna, Ennis, for the annual Christmas Céilí to a capacity attendance.
The band continued to play for dancers in halls across Cork, Limerick and Clare under the guise of ‘The Shandrum Five Counties Céilí Band’. Participating for the first time in 2015, the band were crowned Senior Céilí Band champions at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Sligo and then went on to win again in Ennis in 2016 and were recently awarded the All Ireland Senior title for a third year running.
Their talent and style lends to a particularly wonderful atmosphere always in Cois na hAbhna, as they play an excellent selection of Reels, Jigs, Polkas and Hornpipes. The line-up ensures that there will be a fabulous night of music to listen to and dance to.
