By the Slopes of Longridge A rare collection of 32 newly composed tunes by John Brady

John raised the banner for the honour of the little village when his celebrated Longridge Ceili Band won All-Ireland honours at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. This was a momentous occasion with all the passion and pride which this great event generates. The Longridge and John Brady are now an intrinsic part of Fleadh folklore.

By the Slopes of the Longridge' published in 2000 by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann enhanced John's reputation as a native philosopher, raconteur, composer and traditional performer supreme. This social commentary, embracing pride of place and people, reflects a dignity and a decency which are marks of rural identity. John got to the heart of the matter which in this case is about values - Christian, cultural, social, human and environmental. John Brady was one of nature's gentlemen’, a dependable anchor in the choppy seas of change. John was steadfast in his beliefs; resolute in his music; artistic in his vision; and consistent in his community service. The Irish nation owes a debt of gratitude to this fine Offaly ambassador who will be forever celebrated in his music. John passed to his eternal reward on 15th March 2014.
