Teastas I dTeagasc Ceolta Tíre CCÉ's Teacher diploma Course 2018

2nd February 2018

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann’s TTCT Teacher Training Course has over 800 graduates throughout Ireland and overseas. The course which has been in existence since 1980 has been specifically designed to equip teachers of Irish traditional music to teach more effectively in a wide variety of community settings. This residential course is highly subscribed and applications are received from candidates both nationally and internationally.

The course director is Martin Power and the ratio of assessors/tutors to candidate allows for very significant levels of staff support. The TTCT Course for 2018 will take place from Sunday 28 October – November 3 at an Chultúrlann and applications are presently being accepted for applicants specialising in fiddle, flute, whistle, concertina, button accordion, harp, banjo and uilleann pipes. The closing date for applications is 8 June and all eligible applicants will be requested to attend for audition and interview 30 June. Alternate provision for audition and interview is made in exceptional cases. Details on eligibility accompany the application form.

It is recommended that applicants have some teaching experience at the time of applying and we would ask CCÉ units to facilitate prospective applicants in terms of acquiring such experience, as is feasible, e.g. in a mentored or assistant role or as is appropriate. Places are allocated on the basis of date of application and the audition/interview process. Accordingly interested parties should to start their application process as soon as possible.
