Fáilte chuig an Fhleadh Cheoil agus Scoil Éigse

28th April 2015

Bígí linn ar fud na hÉireann ag Fleadhanna Ceoil an Chomhaltais. Comhaltas County Fleadhanna are cultural traditional festivals. The local County Fleadh has a real community feel to it with a warm welcome for participants of all ages and visitors from near, far and overseas.

Tagann ceoltóirí agus cuairteoirí chuig na Fleadhanna chun sult a bhaint as an gceol agus an spraoi. Musicians from far and near come to the Fleadh to have a tune while overseas visitors come to enjoy the informal sessions of music and song and the outdoor entertainment. The Fleadh features entertainment and participation activities in addition to the competitions in traditional music, singing, dancing and Comhrá. These are qualifying competitions for the Provincial Fleadh that lead to All-Ireland level at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Visitors to the Fleadh attending these competitions get an opportunity to hear and see the very best of solo and group music performers, traditional singing in both English and Irish and set, céilí and sean-nós dancing. The Fleadh Cheoil usually features a céilí and a concert of traditional entertainment, a seomra na Gaeilge where visitors experience the Irish language and of course the informal sessions of music and song. Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann hosts 44 Fleadhanna Ceoil throughout Ireland, Great Britain and North America.

The 43rd Annual Scoil Éigse organised by Comhaltas takes place in Sligo, August 9th to 14th, the week preceding Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. At Scoil Éigse – CCÉ’s annual international Summer School students of all ages register for the various instrumental music, singing, dancing and Irish language classes.
