James Cullinan RIP
30th March 2025
James passed away peacefully on 28th March 2025 at Milford Care Centre surrounded by his loving family.
One of Ireland’s top fiddle players, James was born in Kilnamona, west of Ennis town, he went to Toonagh National School where he came under the influence of the late great Frank Custy a music tutor of renown who guided him on the road to stardum.
He was responsible for a huge numbers of musicians visiting Doolin down through the years and his top quality restaurant which he ran with his musical wife Carol also achieved world renowned status.
He recently launched what was to be his final CD album entitled “Here It Is” described by Ace accordion player Dermot Byrne as pure magical music.
A beakon of light in Irish fiddle playing, his loss to the Irish traditional music world cannot be measured. He will be sadly missed by his heart broken family and his wide circle of friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
