Mary Finnegan RIP -A Loyal and True Friend

10th September 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Finnegan, St. Senan’s Road, Ennis, on Monday 9th September 2024. Mary was part of the Cois na hAbhna catering committee in Ennis from the day it officially opened its doors in 1983. Those of us who knew Mary in Cois na hAbhna would describe her as a force of nature, a hard taskmaster, but it was her attention to detail and the welcoming atmosphere she fostered that endeared her to volunteers and visitors alike. A long standing member of the Ennis branch of Comhaltas, Mary was also an active member of the County Fleadh Committee, and Fleadh Nua Committee since 1973 when she took charge of the catering for the visit of an advance Comhaltas Headquarters delegation which arrived in Ennis to hammer out a plan to bring Fleadh Nua to Ennis, we were all heartbroken that Mary could not be with us at Fleadh Nua 2024 to mark the 50th anniversary in style. She will be sadly missed by all of us at Cois na hAbhna, Fleadh Nua and Clare Comhaltas.
